Get to know your sheep worm burden using the Luppitt Community Lab

DateMon 11th to Fri 15th May (for FECs), then 8.00pm Mon 18th May for collective discussion
EventGET TO KNOW YOUR SHEEP WORM BURDEN USING THE LUPPITT COMMUNITY LAB
VenueCommunity Lab and Luppitt Inn
LeaderDave Crabb
DetailsFor this session, you are invited to bring faecal samples to the Community Lab in the week of 11th to 15th May, then gather for a discussion of results on Mon 18th May at the Luppitt Inn.    The Community Lab is a facility available to all Luppitt farmers to improve animal health practices while reducing environmental impact.  It provides a space to carry out faecal egg counts (FECs), to help make informed decisions about parasite management.  If you know the actual worm burden in your sheep, you can use the correct wormer (anthelmintic), set the correct (and not excessive) dose, and help reduce resistance in livestock and unintended harm to wider biodiversity.
More info / bookingsFor more info and to book use of the Lab please phone Dave on 07763 011787 To book places for the 18th May discussion please email Nicola [email protected]

Date8.00pm Mon 25th May
EventSFI 2026 AND CAPITAL GRANTS – PREPARING TO APPLY
VenueLuppitt Inn plus possible farm walk
LeaderDave Crabb
DetailsWhile we wait for the result of our Landscape Recovery submission, members are encouraged to make use of other available schemes in the short term.  The first application window for SFI 2026 opens in June for small farms (max 50ha, min 3ha) and those without existing RPA agreements.   If this may be of interest to you, early engagement is wise to ensure your land registration is up to date and options developed before the window opens.  Meanwhile Capital Grants for environmental works open in July.  This meeting will offer advice on both schemes.
